The Famous Surgeon Scene Has Been Found!

As I was looking over the specs for Arrow Video’s massive Hellraiser: The Scarlet Box bluray box set, one particular feature on the Hellbound: Hellraiser II disc instantly caught my eye.

•Surgeon Scene – the home video world premiere of this legendary, never before-seen excised sequence from Hellbound, sourced from a VHS workprint.

I literally almost shit myself when I read that! I had to do a double take to make sure I wasn’t seeing things. I never knew the footage existed in any shape or form. I was always under the assumption since the scenes didn’t work out like the filmmakers had planned that maybe the actual film elements were destroyed. And even though writer Peter Atkins has been quoted as saying “the scene is shit” (which it probably is) it will finally be cool to see it. Thank god for workprints and the people that keep them.

Arrow Video has really outdone themselves with this set. This is a limited edition set so make sure to get your orders in ASAP! They did reveal they will do single releases for each movie in the future. So you’ll still be able to see the Surgeon scene even if you don’t get this.
