I believe Clive Barker can direct another movie!!!

Spread the love

As I’ve said in previous posts I believe Clive Barker still has the chops to direct another movie. Maybe even more than one. The man faced death and came out on the other side with a more vigilante attitude towards life. I don’t just believe he could do it, I know he could!

So I ask you the fans what would you like to see him direct if he decided to do so? Would you like to see him do another adaptation of one of his novels? Maybe a sequel to one of his films? Or how about an original screenplay he would write himself? I’d be up for anything just as long as he was making a new film.

But personally, I’d love to see him make a sequel to Nightbreed because I want to see where that story goes now that I’ve seen his original version. The story needs finality and I think a film would be a great way to do so. I know there are plans for a possible TV series but I want to see this done on a big budget and on the big screen. This is an epic story and it needs to be shown on an epic scale. Of course this is my opinion and I’m sure some people will disagree with me. But I know with Clive behind the camera this could be something huge.

So let me know what you think Clive should direct in the comments below. I’d love to hear your thoughts on the matter.

I’m sure there are more than enough Clive Barker fans in the world for a kickstarter to get the ball rolling if Clive believed he had the right story for a Nightbreed sequel. It’s definitely the one work of his that deserves another chance on the big screen, hopefully the release of the new cut is just the first the first step. Having Clive at the helm would be the perfect thing.

The answer is Harry D’Amour and The Great Beyond.

Honestly, though, at this point in his career I’d like to see Clive have a G.R.R. Martin type role on an HBO fantasy series. I’ll let them choose between Weaveworld, the Art books, or Imajica. He would be executive produce and then write and direct a couple of the important episodes. In this ideal alternate universe, he fits this work in while he’s writing the third book of the Art.

Weaveworld would be wondermagical!! But I could totally dig the idea of him writing & directing the Hellraiser reboot; Not sure but I think it would it would be a first in the history of reboots, the original directer reinventing his classic for the modern screen.. Or maybe even The Thief Of Always!!

I’m with Dave. I’d like to see Nightbreed and Imajica now, then Weaveworld, then Books of the Art (hopefully just in time for book 3 to be finished), but if Clive is directing again, that’s time away from writing, and it’s been 19 years since he directed a movie, and I don’t know if he could write a book and direct a movie at the same time anymore.

As for a Kickstarter, I’d be behind anything Clive Barker wants to do, but I wouldn’t want to push for anything that he doesn’t want to do.

Yeah, it would take time away from some of his other works but for me I don’t won’t Lord of Illusions to be directing swan song. To be honest guys as much I enjoy some elements of the movie Lord is probably Clive at his lowest, especially when it comes to the screenplay. The script is horrible and full of all kinds of plot holes. I will elaborate more on this in a review I’ll be writing very soon. I can’t lie to myself anymore, I don’t think Lord is a very good movie.

Go back to directing another movie I still believe he can even though he’s still recovering and getting his strength back. Someone like Mark Miller could help him express his ideas. There are ways for him to do it even though he not at 100% at the moment.
