Rue Morgue Magazine takes a Special Tour!!!

triptych-3

In this special report Seraphim Films was kind enough to give reporter Ron McKenzie of Rue Morgue Magazine a tour of Clive Barker’s studio office. It’s a short but exciting piece into the mind of a master. Just reading about being there gave me the chills. If I had been there I’d probably have to have sit down after seeing his workroom where he keeps all of his writings. The notebook for the third of Book of the Art would’ve brought me to my knees. There’s also a story that Ben Mears shares that could’ve been very devestating to all of Clive’s paintings. On side note, our own podcast creators Ryan Danhauser and José Leitão were on hand as well. God I wish I could’ve been Kissoon for a day. I can only imagine what these guys must have felt being there. No words could possibly describe it.

There was a quote from the article that I want to share with you all. In the article McKenzie writes,“From the various movie posters (from all over the world) to ornate sculptures to the beautifully-painted table in the kitchen/lunchroom, Barker’s imagination is on proud display, giving the office setting a phantasmagorical ambience.” I’ve never heard of the word phantasmagorical before so I looked it up in a dictionary and found this definition: Having a fantastic or deceptive appearance, as something in a dream or created by the imagination. For me this word perfectly sums up the mind of Clive Barker.

Amazing. On a tour like that most of my time would be spent standing around agog with plenty of weeping mixed in. A couple years ago Clive mentioned something about arranging the place like a museum so people could perhaps take tours there one day. It would be taking a walk into CB’s brain…Or, like I told José, like a trip to Quiddity. I’m just happy to see pictures of it!

I would love him to turn to that place into a museum. But if pictures is as close as I get then I’m still a happy man.
