Toronto-based Raven Banner Entertainment has optioned Clive Barker’s “Books of Blood” short story “Jacqueline Ess: Her Will and Testament” for screen treatment, according to Fangoria.com and Screen Daily. There was also a laconic Facebook page created for Jacqueline Ess – Movie a few days ago on Facebook but it has since disappeared (you may still find it listed in search results but  it won’t open).

Fangoria goes on to report:

The Toronto-based Raven Banner has pacted with Barker’s Seraphim Films on the project, with a script currently in the works. “Jacqueline Ess,” from Volume Two of the BOOKS OF BLOOD (which also contained the previously filmed “Dread”), tells of a woman who has the telekinetic ability to alter people’s body shapes in horrific ways, and who can mentally give men the ultimate sexual experience—one that always in the guys’ deaths. “All of us at Raven Banner have been huge fans of Clive’s for years,” says the company’s Andrew Hunt, “and I personally have always loved the story of Jacqueline Ess. It has all the qualities one wants in a modern horror film, so I’m excited to see it finally being brought to life on film.”

“We love what Raven Banner is doing for horror,” adds Seraphim VP Mark Miller. “We are excited to be collaborating with them.” Production on the JACQUELINE ESS movie is scheduled to begin this fall.

Screen Daily adds to this:

Partners Michael Paszt, James Fler and Andrew Hunt brokered the deal with Noor Ahmed of Reder & Feig on behalf of Seraphim.

More on this as it develops.
